Thankful Thursday 8/3/2017

Happy Thursday, everyone! I can't believe this is the first Thursday of August - time is really flying by! I feel like every year since high school that the years have flown by. Nan and my elders used to always say, "the older you get, the faster time goes!" I hope it slows down a little bit.

I have a lot to be thankful for this Thursday. I have finally received a correspondence from Canada! They sent it last Friday, but I was too nervous to read it. I decided to read it last night, I had to get over my nervousness because I needed to see my fate. As my friends predicted, it wasn't bad news: they sent me a request for a form to fill out (simple) and I have to send over my FBI clearances. When I applied in May, they only wanted the local police report at the time. The Canadian government has begun to process my application and I've decided that I am not allowing myself to stress out anymore. I will continue to pray and I will continue to save. I am thankful for this opportunity; I am also thankful for my friends and family that have continued to cheer me on. It has helped.

I am also thankful for my Canadian friends - they have been cheerleaders too and have been steering me in the direction of affordable places to live if I get approved. The suburbs of Toronto are more affordable than Toronto proper. I am thankful for this help.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Yessum, 2017 is whizzing by. Imagine how quickly time seems to pass when you are in your mid to late 60s like Shady.

I am happy to learn that the letter you were afraid to open and read did not contain bad news, only more necessary paperwork for you to fill out as you prepare to become a Canadian citizen. I am glad the process keeps moving forward and that you have cheerleaders in the states and in Canada rooting you on.

Have a terrific Thankful Thursday, dear friend JM!

    1. Hi Shady,

One of my Canadian friends made a Facebook post to her friends in Toronto (she lives in Alberta) about affordable housing I could look into. Many people were so nice and gave me permission to friend them. I did and they have been great help as well. I've found most people are nice and are willing to help. :)

Have a great weekend, dear friend!

  3. It's great to hear the process is moving forward. Do you have a job lined up?

    1. No. I don't have a NAFTA eligible job in the States (or have a company that's in Canada where I can transfer to) and finding a LMIA type job is difficult. Canada gives priority to citizens and permanent residents, so I went the permanent resident route. I don't need a job lined up, but I do need the finances.
