Thankful Thursday 8/31/17

Happy Thursday! I can't believe it's the last day of August and we only have 3.5 months left of 2017! I started writing my yearly newsletter - I'm going to e-mail most of them this year, so if you'd like an e-mail, please drop me a comment with your e-mail address. I'll add you to the list! My newsletter won't be as busy as last year's newsletter, but that is okay. I was thinking about how I send updates every once in a while - I hope a newsletter won't be too much, but a newsletter isn't always as in depth. I think most people like hearing from me, so I shouldn't worry about being annoying. A newsletter will be okay.

Anyway, today is thankful Thursday! I feel like I have a lot to be thankful for this week. Last Saturday I ventured down to Atlantic City again for the day. Visiting the beach was my last hurrah for the summer. It was a nice trip and I met a lot of nice people while swimming for four hours. As I stopped for a water break, a lady sitting behind me approached me. She said to me, "I'm about to leave for the day, would you like my rental chair?" Since the casinos own the beach, that is why Atlantic City is free. However, you can rent chairs and umbrellas (and pay for them before you go on the beach). Since I brought my own blanket, I didn't want to rent. I was shocked that the kind woman asked me. I said I did want the chair and I thanked her up and down. I spent the last hour on the beach on the chair, with my eyes shut and listening to classical music. It felt great to relax and I am thankful for the kindness of a perfect stranger.

We're still raising caterpillars, but we only have one live caterpillar and one chrysalis that looks like it'll be successful. We're surprised that so many died, we think it's the type of milkweed we used this year. However, we are still thankful that we have two that survived. Hopefully, we'll find more.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

I'm happy that you were able to get back to the beach one last time this summer. As is usually the case, you brought out the kindness in a complete stranger.

I'm sorry you lost most of your caterpillars but you can be thankful this Thursday for the two that remain. I hope they make it.

Have a nice Thursday, a great Friday, and a safe and happy weekend, dear friend JM!

    1. Hi Shady!

I'm happy I did too. It was such a beautiful day and the water felt great. I love the water and I love the beach.

One of the caterpillars turned into a monarch. The other should be a chrysalis tomorrow.

I hope you had a great weekend, dear friend!
