Thankful Thursday 7/6/2017

I can't believe this is the first thankful Thursday in July! We only have five-and-a-half more months left of 2017! This is also my first Thankful Thursday as a 28-year-old young woman.

I still feel thankful that my birthday was nice and peaceful. I am thankful for Claire calling me to wish me a happy birthday, Marsha sending me an e-mail, as well as Andrew's mom sending me a greeting. I am thankful for my friends over at Writing.com sending me merit badges, greeting cards, and regular cards through snail mail. I'm thankful for everyone. I'm thankful that Aunt Kathy made my birthday cake.

Yesterday I decided to request "A Night on Bald Mountain" on WRTI. For whatever reason, the song kept playing on my mind over my birthday. To calm Mimi down from the fireworks, I turned on the classical station and as I was falling asleep, I thought I heard "A Night on Bald Mountain." It wasn't but had it stuck in my head all day for my birthday.

Anyway, I wasn't sure if it would be played since I requested it later than normal. I was surprised when Jack Moore announced my name and read the little note I had attached: "Jessica had this song stuck in her head yesterday for her birthday, an interesting song to have stuck in your head for your birthday, and she wants to listen to it to continue her birthday festivities." After the song ended, Jack wished me a happy birthday. I feel thankful for WRTI and I am glad it can be streamed all over the world.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

It makes me happy to learn more details of your 28th birthday celebration. The cake Aunt Kathy made for you is awesome and I'll bet it tasted as good as it looks. You also received a flood of thoughtful cards, messages and gifts and even got your musical request played. I enjoyed watching the dragons and the bears bringing you their own birthday greetings.

I wish you a safe trip and stay in Atlantic City and hope your birthday festivities will last throughout the weekend and beyond!

    1. Hi Shady!

That cake was amazing! I love Aunt Kathy's baking and I hope to be as good as her one day. Slowly, but surely.

I only spent a day in A.C. and it was a lot of fun. It's definitely a good place for a day trip.

Have a great weekend, dear friend!

  2. I'm thankful that you had such a beautiful birthday cake, and I'm thankful that although the fireworks in our neighborhood will continue until Sunday, they're dying down.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. Hi Janie,

Our community apparently celebrated Canada Day too because I only heard the fireworks on July 1st, 3rd, and 4th. :D I'm thankful - Mimi is too - that it wasn't extended past that. Loud noises bother me.

I hope they have died down completely in your community by now!

      Love,
      Jessica
