28 Candles: Picture Yourself at Jessica's Birthday Party

My birthday has always started on July 3rd, especially when it comes to people sending me cards. Since July 4th is a holiday in the US, the mail isn't delivered on the 4th. I tend to get cards on the 3rd. Yesterday I received three of them; cards from a pen pal, the Connors (Nan's old neighbors), and Mrs. Brown. I will have to see the Connors and the Browns this weekend.

I promptly put the cards into my happiness box. Last week Brooke sent me a birthday card and I put the card in last week. Look how full the box is getting!

This morning when I woke up, I woke up to an e-mail from Andrew. I always love when he makes me a card and I loved his card this year. I love Mayor Khan and loved the card he made me. It made me smile as I was lying in bed.

After I decided it was time to get up and make my way downstairs, mom and dad handed me a card with $50. I will deposit that money into my mutual fund - that is how I am mostly saving for Canada or moving to wherever opportunity takes me. I've decided that if I don't get approved for Canada, I'll teach abroad. A lot of countries need English instructors. I gave them a hug and kiss, dad took me to Starbucks to get my free drink, and then we had a breakfast of cream chipped beef.

Andrew also surprised me by writing on my Facebook wall with another birthday greeting. This time it was of President Macron. This made me smile and cry tears of joy because I was so surprised. Andrew remembered my little crush on Macron. I responded him this was the perfect birthday trifecta: Mayor Khan, President Macron, and I was adding PM Trudeau to the list. 😍😍

Happy birthday from me - and from this guy, too!

After some writing and shopping, I decided to open up the 23 and Me kit I ordered for my birthday. Two of my family members were adopted and I want to see my ancestry. I know I am definitely Irish, but I might not be Italian. I'm curious to see what else I am. I received the kit on Friday but thought it would be fitting to do the test on my actual birthday.

It was interesting and I realized I had a dry mouth. I couldn't spit into the receptacle. I couldn't eat or drink or chew gum or smoke (the latter two I don't do) for a half an hour. I decided to take some water and cut cherries for the shore on Saturday. It took me 45 minutes to chop the cherries, but still was feeling dry. I read up on how to stimulate saliva.

I massaged my cheeks and smelled lemon. It worked. I had to get to a certain line, but it has to be straight saliva and not the bubbles. Mine was mostly bubble, so I kept going until the saliva reached the line. I closed the lid and when the solution mixed in, the bubbles were gone. It was way above the line. I hope it doesn't matter! I have to send it out tomorrow and I can't wait to get the results.

We met Aunt Kathy and Uncle Dave at Bonefish Grill and had an amazing birthday dinner! We chatted and celebrated for an hour and a half.

The waitress we had at Bonefish Grill was extremely nice. After dinner, she brought me out a piece of cheesecake with a birthday candle. I was surprised! It was so sweet!

After dinner, mom's other sister and brother (my other aunt and uncle) came over for cake. Aunt Kathy made the cake from scratch. It was so delicious!

I had a great birthday! So far 28 doesn't feel all that different from 27. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes.

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Happy happy happy birthday to you, dear friend! It looks like you received some very thoughtful presents and enjoyed a great meal at the Bonefish Grill. Mrs. Shady and I ate at our local Bonefish two days ago! It is one of our favorite restaurants.

I had an exciting evening down here in Florida. There were storms earlier but they dissipated just in time for the fireworks displays to be held. From my balcony on the 4th floor I had a panoramic view of the city and nearby beaches. I was able to watch no fewer than seven (7) public fireworks displays at the same time! It was very exciting - the first time I ever saw that many simultaneous displays.

Once again happy 28th birthday to you, dear friend JM. Enjoy the rest of your week and have fun in Atlantic City!

    1. Thank you, dear friend! Still bummed that Bonefish Grill didn't have the raw oysters, but my rainbow trout was amazing! It made up for that.

I'm glad that you had a wonderful 4th of July and had the opportunity to experience your first simultaneous displays. That does sound fun!

Have a great rest of the week, dear friend!
