NaPoWriMo Day #5

Summers at Caley

Fly high above the trees,
now where the cherry blossoms trace
pale pink leaves the clouds encased—
pinkness guides me as I soar in the air.
Birds sing and dance, their songs blare,
in unison, perfect harmony;
bees float around the stamen,
gathering pollen like the perfect laymen
to keep the honey flowing,
and my stomach sustained—the wind blowing:

I follow the busy bees and the flies
that burrow in and out of the woodchips,
those hollow holes; ants help flip.
I love to watch from high above me—
from atop the cherry blossom tree—
opens the quaint and lovely bud;
sunshine that dances along our hairs,
before the stars start to climb the stairs!
Day seems to last forever, can it be?
Welcome summer! A joyful gathering
of nature and humans, love and bounty.

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

    This poem of yours took me back to my youth when I used to visit a park near my home on warm spring and summer days and hike through the fields observing natural phenomena like flitting butterflies, bees and other insects. Many times I would climb trees and sit in the high branches for hours enjoying the peace and solitude, bird watching, thinking and simply being. Your writing brought all that back to me and I thank you.

    Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend JM!
