Skating Under a Snow Moon

On Friday night I ventured into the city to go ice skating. Thursday was supposed to be our first blizzard, but we were spared and skated out of the blizzard with only a few inches of snow. Despite the minimal amount of snowfall, the ice skating rink was empty on Friday night.

I took it easier and stayed closer to the railing so I could practice stopping. My shoulder is a little sore from last week when I was breaking my stops with my arms. I know I can't continue to do that; I decided to practice stopping with the blade. I was successful. By the end of the evening, I was zipping around. This seven-year-old girl I was talking to before I went onto the ice, said I was doing well and encouraged me to keep up the good work. I know it sounds weird, but I appreciated the kind gesture from the child. It's nice to see kids are still being taught kindness.

I was also zipping around under a full moon, which the weather people called a "snow moon." It was gorgeous.

As I was warming up, NBC 10 was there and they interviewed me. The anchorman stated it was going to be live on Facebook, but I don't see the video. I guess it was truly live, not a taped video posted later, and I guess I missed it. :( I would have loved to have seen my interview.

Regardless, I had so much fun and I can't wait to go ice skating next weekend!

You can tell I really worked up a sweat. :)

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

It's so cool that you were interviewed on Facebook Live! I wish I could have seen that. Lucky for you most people were fooled by the forecast and stayed home and you had the skating rink mostly to yourself. I'm glad Philly was spared a blizzard and happy to know you had fun and met a 7 year old girl who was sweet and paid you a compliment.

Enjoy the week ahead, dear friend JM!

  2. There was some minor snowfall a couple of weeks or so ago here but fortunately, it didn't stick.

I went ice skating for the first time a few months ago. I didn't fall but the skates I used hurt my legs!
