I Survived the 2017 Brandywine Red Clay Alliance's Polar Plunge

Dad and I arrived at Brandywine Picnic Park a little before 10 am. It was a balmy 43 degrees (Fahrenheit) this morning, the water a tropical 38 degrees (Fahrenheit).

They decided to have a "beautiful dog" contest.

Freedom making her debut.

Freedom won the contest.

Costume contest. I felt dejected because I didn't think I made it in.

THEN, the host came up to me with a badge and said: "I was looking for you. Are you ready? You'll be our debut for the contest." I was shocked and happy, I placed honorable mention for my jellyfish costume.

Getting ready for the plunge.

I went swimming, climbed the snowy hill, and went swimming again.

My Blue Jays blanket keeping me warm afterwards.

I raised $115 for the charity. I want to thank everyone who donated/sponsored me for this wonderful cause. I also want to thank dad for taking me, especially since he braved the weather despite his sickness. I feel grateful. You can view the whole album here.

  1. Hooray for you, Jessica Marie!

The air and water temp could have been worse, I suppose, but you won't find very many people willing to take the plunge into 38 degree water. I am proud of you. I enjoyed seeing the festivities and you in your jellyfish costume. I'm happy to know that it won you some recognition. So sorry your dad is still under the weather. I applaud him for braving the elements to cheer you on.

Congratulations on meeting the Polar Plunge challenge again this year, dear friend JM!

    1. Thanks, Shady.

One year it was 32 degrees for the air temp, water was 34 degrees. That day was so much fun too. :D

My dad is starting to feel a bit better today, which I'm glad about. Despite my dad feeling under the weather, he had fun cheering me on and taking photographs.

Thanks for all the support, dear friend!
