A Friday the 13th to Remember

Yesterday was Friday the 13th, one of my favorite days because I always loved watching the horror movies that would play. Since I don't get that luxury anymore, I decided to go ice skating after work. I went ice skating in the evening and it was beautiful to watch the sunset as I ice skated. I'm also getting better with ice skating.

Before I rented my ice skates and before I was allowed on the ice. I loved walking around taking pictures of Penns Landing.

After strolling around Penns Landing, I decided to go into the "cabin" or sitting area to pray. After prayer, I loved admiring the decorations and took pictures while I waited for my time slot to get onto the ice to become available. The sessions are an hour and a half; my session was from 5-6:30 PM. I sat in the "cabin" for a half an hour.

Before I went onto the ice.

I was so excited when it was my time to get onto the ice. However, I didn't tie my skates tight enough and one of the aides had to help me off the ice to tie my skates tighter. I'm thankful for his assistance and after he tightened the skates, I had a blast. I only fell three times (still sore), but I flew through the air while gliding along the ice.

I'm flying through air
as I gently glide on ice;
maybe not-- fall, ouch!

What a fun time. I am surprised with how quickly I caught on and I'm surprised with how fun ice skating really is! Future Maple Leafs player right here! (I wish!)

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

    Looks like you had a wonderful time on Friday the 13th, ice skating at Penns Landing. You were really whizzing along there. I could never skate that fast. I tried ice skating a few times when I was a teenager but had weak ankles and always ended up with blisters plus a sore rear end from falling. It wasn't much fun for me. Neither was roller skating - same result. It looks like sunset is the ideal time to go out on the ice. Seems like they allow about 100 skaters in the rink at the same time. I'd be afraid of plowing into people. :)

    Thanks for sharing your skating pictures and vids with us, dear friend Jessica Marie, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    1. Hi, Shady!

      I used to roller skate a lot as a child! Roller skating was my thing; ironically, I used to be terrified of ice skating. I haven't roller skated in 15 years, though; the roller skating rink was torn down and made into a business park (another ironic statement). I should get the film redeveloped of me roller skating for my 12th birthday. :)

      I hope you had a great weekend! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
