Thankful Thursday 12/15/2016

Since I am in a year-in-review mode this month, my Thankful Thursday today is going to take on that vibe. Within the last two weeks, I've received holiday cards from dear friends. Many of whom I met this year.

Last week, as I posted, I received a card from Michelle and her family. Michelle is one of the friends I met at the Toronto Blue Jays game in April. We really hit it off and when she asked if I had a Facebook, for whatever reason I didn't feel self-conscious about having a Facebook profile for a bear. I gave her Wesley's Facebook page and explained, "I use it to get away from drama. I'm a bear collector... if you don't mind adding a bear." She smiled and said, "Of course not! I look forward to chatting more!" I was actually nervous about meeting Moe and I confided in her about that nervousness. She said to message her if he ditched me or turned out weird, then she and her husband could take me to do something. While Moe turned out to be a nice guy, Michelle and I continued to keep in touch, building our friendship. I am thankful for that.

Last Friday I received cards from Liz and Barb. Liz has been a friend since fifth grade. She was married this summer and sadly I couldn't attend. Liz moved to Alaska in 2011 and has been living her life there happily. I did send them a few gifts, but I'm hoping once things settle down I will be able to see Liz and meet her husband. I'm so happy for her.

Barb is the mother of my friend Joyce. Joyce and I became friends at the same time Liz and I became friends. We fell out of touch for a few years, but I decided to send a card this year. Barb has been battling some health issues and some family issues. I am thankful for the friendship of both Barb and Joyce. I always loved going to their get togethers.

On Monday I received cards from my friends abroad. I received a card from Andrew's mom and brother in the UK, a bear friend in the UK, and one from my French friend. I am thankful for all of their friendships and the good tidings they have for me. I am thankful for their kindness.

Khadijah also gave me a chocolate gift basket. Khadijah is an office friend that started in July. She is having a baby in January and I bought her a gift. She was so happy and wanted to repay the favor. I am thankful for the nice gift and her friendship.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

You are blessed with many good friends all around the world. Few people can make that statement. It doesn't happen in a vacuum. You have a gregarious nature and people like you and gravitate to you. Looks like you received many lovely cards and gifts.

    Happy Thursday, dear friend JM!

    1. Hi Shady!

I know, I feel so lucky to have friends from all over. When I was a baby, Nan housed a foreign exchange student from Slovakia for the five years he was in college. In those five years, I got to meet his family when they visited, and his Slovakian friends when they visited the US. I think this experience shaped me into who I am today. I still keep in touch with the exchange student, a naturalized American now with a family. It's nice. :)

Last night I received two more. From another friend in the UK and from my old manager from my paid internship of three years. It was super nice.

I hope you had a good Friday, dear friend!
