Pie For Charity: Red Owl Tavern's Month of 1000 Pies

Last November when I visited Independence Hall, I noticed the Red Owl Tavern had a clever sign outside. I'm always drawn to artwork and I loved the pies floating around the lettering: MONTH OF 1000 PIES. Sadly, last year the pies sold out and I couldn't buy a pie to support Philabundance.

Last week before I went to the Convention Center for the craft show, I stopped by Red Owl Tavern. They are one of the few places opened before 11am and serve a decent brunch menu. I noticed the sign was up again and this year I bought a pumpkin pie. Red Owl Tavern will be selling these homemade pies for the month of November, their goal is to sell 1000 of them. One pie is $12, two are for $20. Half of the money will be donated to Philabundance, which is an organization that helps the homeless in Philadelphia.

If you would like to help a great cause and eat some delicious pie, please call Red Owl Tavern to order a pie. They can be reached at (215) 923-2267.

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

After weeks of begging I finally got Mrs. Shady to make a pumpkin pie for me the other day. It was delicious. Pumpkin is my favorite kind of pie.

What a great idea for a Philly restaurant to sell pumpkin pies to benefit the homeless of the community! I hope the Red Owl Tavern reaches its goal this year.

Have a great week and a happy Thanksgiving, dear friend Jessica Marie!
