Thankful Thursday 9/29/2016

First off, I want to wish my aunt a very happy birthday! Hope the day is enjoyed.  :) I'm thankful that she is my awesome aunt and I can have chats with her. I'm thankful for everything she has done throughout my life.

I have a lot to be thankful for today. On Tuesday my dad took the day off and he took me to the train station. Before he dropped me off at the train station, we stopped off at Starbucks. Usually on week day mornings I don't have Starbucks since I take Lyft to the train station (I usually go to Starbucks on Monday and Friday afternoons when I don't have to work both jobs). I'm thankful dad took me.

That morning one of my coworkers also gave me a lavender cupcake she made by hand. It was delicious and we are going to exchange lavender recipes. I told her about the lavender cookies I make. I'm thankful she thought of me.

On Sunday after the race, I stopped off at this grocery store. It sells halal food and it's owned by a Turkish family. I hadn't been in the store since January and wanted to stop in to see if I could buy Arabic coffee. Instead of Arabic coffee, I bought Turkish coffee and the cup to brew it in. The cashier was so happy to see me again and we were talking. I told him about the cat cafe I just visited and was going to visit the cats on Friday. He exclaimed, "Oh, I have a cat! His name is Or-ay-o! Would you like to see him?" He led me to the back and put Oreo into my arms. I was holding and playing with Oreo for a good 10 minutes. Very friendly cat and reminds me of Nan's old neighbor's cat, Gabby. I wish I had the cashier take pictures, but I was lost in the moment. I'm thankful the owner let me meet Oreo. Maybe I'll stop by on Friday. :)

What are you thankful for today?

Parkway Family Walk and Run For Children's Hospital of Philadelphia 9/25/2016

This morning I walked a 2K for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. This month was childhood cancer awareness month and since I know someone with childhood Leukemia, I wanted to walk for charity. I raised $175 for CHOP and I successfully completed the 2K. I had so much fun and met many great people today.

I ran for Phoebe.

Getting ready to walk.

The runners on the other side.

iPod set. Begin walk.

Finished! 30 minutes! Successful 2K walk!

Over $1 million raised!

Someone got engaged! Congratulations!

Thank you to all who sponsored me! I feel great and I am glad I participated in a fun event for charity. After the race, I walked around Philadelphia and had brunch at the Hungry Pigeon. I had a peach Dutch baby and chicken sausage. It was such a beautiful day to walk - a nice 68 degrees.
