Fireworks 2016

Last night we decided to play with fireworks. Since it rained on July 4, last night was clear and beautiful; we thought it would be a good time to pull out the fireworks. We stayed outside, despite the mosquitoes and humidity, for an hour and just had fun.

I also wanted to write/draw with the sparklers. The first set of sparklers - both the modern and old metal tip sparklers, didn't come out right with the settings I had on my camera:

When I changed the settings of my camera to a manual mode, ISO 1600, slower shutter speed, I managed to draw a heart, something that looks like a smile, a half a heart, and an "L". Pretty cool!

Maybe next weekend I will pull out another sparkler and try it again. Maybe I'll go with simple shapes like a heart instead of writing words.

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

It's a bummer when it rains on the 4th of July, isn't it? Here in Florida we lucked out. We were able to view three different fireworks displays at once. They originated at locations in three different directions from our condo.

I enjoyed your fireworks pictures. If you scroll down through the first set, it's like watching a movie! It was amazing to see the patterns you formed in the air with the sparkler using a slower shutter speed.

Have a wonderful week ahead, dear friend Jessica!

    1. Hi Shady!

We need the rain badly - we're in a drought, so it wasn't a bummer for me! We're hoping it rains again soon... we still need it.

Ohhh! Your views in Florida sound like they were gorgeous! I hope you took pictures! Thank you for the kind comment. I was hoping the pictures would turn out great and I'm glad they did. :)

Thank you, dear friend, I hope you have a wonderful week ahead as well!
