Civil War Reunion at Pennypacker Mills 2016 (A Photographic Entry)

Today I went to the Civil War Reunion held by Pennypacker Mills in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania. Pennypacker Mills holds this event each year, but I haven't attended since 2012. I wanted to go this; I ordered a Lyft this morning and went. I'm glad I did! I met a family that forgot to bring their camera; they had me take pictures of their children joining the Union Army and I sent it off to them an hour ago. I hope they are pleased with the pictures! I also had a daguerreotype photograph taken. It took about a half an hour setting up, a minute or two to take the picture - that's why I look so stern and that is why Victorian photographs look stern too. With that said, I did get home later than expected and I'm exhausted. However, I am glad I went because I enjoyed singing the Civil War songs, meeting new people, and walking around.

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

I am familiar with Schwenksville because Montgomery County is part of the coverage area of the first TV station where I worked, WGAL, and I remember our reporters doing quite a few stories over that way.

I just showed Mrs. Shady all of your pictures. She is a Civil War buff and was excited to see the men in uniform and other highlights of the event. I can't imagine sitting still for a picture that long. You have the patience of Job. :) The music was great, too!

Thank you, dear friend Jessca, and have a happy Sunday!

    1. Hi Shady!

I have heard of WGAL! I think we get a news station here in King of Prussia or at least I've seen it in the Lancaster area.

I'm glad Mrs. Shady enjoyed the pictures. :) Some time you'll have to take a trip to Pennsylvania and attend one. They're very fun and I would recommend. I'm amazed I stayed that long, but I wanted a picture. The people before me kept moving and he had to keep re-doing pictures. That took a good 45 minutes. He caught my picture on first shot because of how still I was!

I bought their CD.I can't wait to listen to it. Civil War music is some of my favorite music. :)

Thank you, dear friend Shady, you have a happy Sunday as well!

  2. What fun! You took beautiful photos. I interviewed some re-enactors when I was a reporter. It was fun. They were dedicated to that time period.

    Love,
    Janie

Thank you. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out. :) Yes, I love how dedicated these re-enactors are. They really encouraged the photographs too!
