Thankful Thursday 12/31/2015

It's the last day of 2015 and I feel like I have a lot to be thankful for this year. First off, Holy Devil let me volunteer my voice in his new song. I play the part of the nurse. I took a little sample and it's on YouTube:

However, please check out the whole song on Amazon: Take This Pen From Me. Holy Devil is an amazing artist and I'm thankful to be friends with him. You won't be disappointed. :)

Speaking of music, I am thankful I reconnected with Marwan and the rest of Acrassicauda this year. Those guys are amazing and they've done so much for me this year, including not only the signed sweatshirt, but giving me permission to use some of their song titles for some of my poems in As Far As The Eyes Can See. I am also thankful for their friendship.

Signed sweatshirt they sent me.

They signed the CD I bought.

I'm thankful for all of the friends I reconnected with: Ziad for helping me with Arabic, Dave for treating me to a ball game, seeing Liz and hanging out in March. I am thankful for Claire taking me to the symphony for the first time and bringing me to the Chester County Library: Exton Branch. I am also thankful for Marsha and Andrew. I love the Skype chats I had with Andrew this year.

I am also thankful for my adventures in New York City and in Philly. I am grateful for the little things that happened this year, especially my contract employment with the senior center. I loved seeing Nan's friends again and I loved meeting new people. It helped me land my full time position now, which I am grateful for. I get along with my co-workers so far and I appreciate them. Brijae gave me good advice: when I am ready, the government offers certification programs in foreign languages (she knows someone who is doing the program) and will help find the student jobs. I told her that I am hoping to take lessons with my former professor, but I definitely want to look into a certification to combine with my English degree. I thanked Brijae up and down. I am thankful for my professor too.

The gifts from my manager and the head of the department.

I'm thankful for Karen, my library co-worker, for giving me old flannel shirts and a scrapbook.

I'm thankful for my neighbors and always being included in their events.

I was thankful for Dress Like a Cow Day at Chick-Fil-A back in July and getting a free breakfast sandwich.

I'm thankful for getting involved again in the library's book discussion group in the spring. It was nice seeing my former English professor again. Since I work for the library, I'm thinking of getting involved this year again. I am thankful to the literature it exposed me too.

I was thankful for these guys stepping in when the one musician in Rittenhouse was bullying me for taking pictures. These guys let me photograph them. I had so much fun and met some wonderful people. Thankful for that!

I am also thankful for little moments like this:

Bird show at Birds and Beyond in October.

I just love Claudia. :D

What are you thankful for that happened to you in 2015?

  1. You had an exciting 2015, Jessica Marie, filled with travel, educational experiences, fine dining, new job opportunities making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. I'm sure you will keep a busy social calendar again in 2016, continue to expand your horizons and make even more friends.

It's very cool that you lent your voice to that song by Holy Devil. Monica from Friends (Courteney Cox) got started "Dancing in the Dark" in that Bruce Springsteen video. Maybe that soundbite will be your springboard to fame.

I am thankful to have picked up a hip young blog friend like you to help remind me and other boomers that it's never too late to think young, act young and be young.

Happy New Year to you, dear friend Jessica!

    1. Thank you, Shady! My newsletter is now up - please do check it out when you get the chance. I remember that Bruce Springsteen video! Hey, you just never know! :D He did a shoutout to me and the guy that lent his voice as the doctor. The three of us might become famous one of these days. :)

2016 will be a busy year. With work, finishing my book, and Arabic lessons at some point... I'm looking forward to 2016 though.

Enjoy tonight and happy new year to you too, dear friend Shady!
