Review of Honeymoon by Lana Del Rey

I bought Lana Del Rey's new album, Honeymoon, back on October 11, 2015 - a few weeks after the release date of September 18, 2015. I had been meaning to post this for a while, but life gets busy.

I actually really love Honeymoon and I can honestly say I can add it to the list of the best new releases I bought in 2015. I love Lana's style and she almost reminds me a bit like Alanis Morrisette. Earlier this year Kim Gordon, the former lead singer of Sonic Youth, bashed Lana in Rolling Stone citing she was miserable and "should kill herself." I thought that was horrible (though I do like Sonic Youth) and I remember when the grunge/alternative artists in their younger years used to be angsty as well. I love Lana's angst.

Despite all of her angst, Lana does have a beautiful voice and is an awesome writer. Honeymoon hits the mark and I can listen to it on repeat all day. Some of the songs can really bring me to tears, but sometimes that is a good release... which I think is Lana's point in some of the songs. I really love these songs the most:

Music To Watch Boys To
Terrence Loves You
God Knows I Tried
High By the Beach

I would definitely recommend Lana Del Rey's Honeymoon. You won't regret it!

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Thanks for poking me at SDMM and reminding me to check for a new post on yours. My dang reader says your last update was two weeks ago!

I went to YouTube and listened to the tracks your recommended. Lana does have a beautiful voice and her songs and videos are dreamlike. I enjoyed listening to her.

I forgot to mention Kevin Gates on my list of rappers to which I am currently listening.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend JM!

    1. Hi Shady!

I'm glad you enjoyed Lana! I can't help but to constantly listen to this CD. It is one of my favorites.

I can't say I've ever listened to Kevin Gates - I will have to check him out. Would you recommend?

      You too, dear friend Shady!
