Operation: Hiro Costume - Part 1 Baymax T-Shirt

This year I'm going to be Hiro from Big Hero 6. Whenever I dress up for Halloween, I try to be something where I can wear the costume all year long... and reuse it for the next Halloween. I usually recycle a costume twice, but I wear the clothes throughout. I think wearing something once is waste.

I loved Big Hero 6 and I love Baymax. I thought about being Baymax and he would have been easy to recreate, but I want to bring my talking Baymax plushie to the Halloween party. I decided Hiro would be the next best thing. Here is what Hiro looks like (for those of you unfamiliar with Disney's Big Hero 6).

Tonight I am going to give you a tutorial on how to make a Baymax shirt, somewhat similar to what Hiro wears. It's really easy and you can be as creative as you want.

Step 1: Buy a red shirt and some shirt paints.
White and black are a given, then any other colours you want.

Begin to draw Baymax.

You will be painting Baymax in. I used my finger.

Painting in... painting in... painting in...

Let this dry.

As you see after it dries, it's not filled in enough.
Paint more white in.

After Baymax dries, get creative and add a design.
The design can be anything and in any colour.
I thought this circular design was neat.

Hang outside to dry.

Fill in Baymax's features.

This is what it'll look like when done!
It was windy that day and the shirt sort of touched.
Ah, well... the smudges still look cool!

I made the shirt last month and Sunday I will post my actual costume because we're going to try on our costumes before the party next Saturday (mom will be away on business for most of the week next week and doesn't want to do last minute running around). I look forward to trying on everything together: the baggy pants, the military parka, and the wig I bought.

  1. Great costume idea! Big Hero 6 was lots of fun.

    1. Thank you! I'm looking forward to Halloween. :)
