Mock Squid Soup: Big Hero 6

Welcome to Mock Squid Soup: A Film Society, meetings on the second Friday of each month.  Last week, society members posted three clues as to their chosen film for the month.  Today is the big reveal.  A reminder on my clues:

1. Squishy
2. Friendship
3. Resurrection

drum roll please....

Title: Big Hero 6
Original Release: 2014
My Overall Rating: 5 stars out of 5

Yes, I know it's a children's movie, but it's one of my favorite newer Disney films. I think the movie is really deep; I believe an adult could appreciate Big Hero 6 for how deep it is. Back in May I wrote a psychological analysis of the film and I would like to share it with you: The Psychological Implications of Big Hero 6.

As I wrote in that blog, Big Hero 6 teaches us how to deal with grief in a health manner. It also depicts how anger is a normal stage of grief, but if it's not expressed properly, revenge and bitterness take hold and it's never pretty. I will also admit, I did cry throughout the film. It's still one of my favorites and I would definitely recommend Big Hero 6. I love Baymax!

    1. The first time I saw it, I watched it by myself. I cried for a few hours (it felt good). The second time I saw it, my mom watched it with me and she liked it as well. My dad had work.

  3. I have not seen any of these films because, I think, The white guy reminds me a bit of my ex just like Kung Fu Panda does also. I have to give this a try because it does sound sweet.

    1. Awww. I would definitely recommend it! Although it is a bit sad, it also is lovable. It shows how love and compassion can make the most miserable people thrive.

Some of the best movies are the ones that are made for kids but appeal to everyone! Good choice!

  5. Good choice, and now that I know, the clues totally make sense. This is a good film no matter how you look at it. It tugs at your heart, teaches you valuable lessons, and entertains...Is that true about Singapore putting Baymax at the table with you?

    1. You know, I'm not sure (I've never been to Asia). Let me Google it. It looks like, according to Reddit, they do: https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/3gadtm/in_shanghai_if_you_go_to_dinner_alone_they_put/

I work for a library and I get to see everything that comes in and goes out. Everyone recommended it, I borrowed the movie, and because I loved it so much... I bought the DVD and Baymax plush. Baymax is my favorite. :)
