The Secret Life of Blogger's Blog Party (7/6/2015-7/11/2015)

I'm back everyone for another round of The Secret Life! I hope you didn't miss me too much in the three week break from the Party. It's been a good three weeks from what you can see of my entries; however, I'll highlight some of the exciting events in links:

Mad Hatter Tea Party
Third Eye Blind and Baymax's Adventures Through PhilaTokyo
Tall Ships Festival
New York City (Arrival)New York City (Balade)New York City (Morbid Anatomy Museum)New York City (Brooklyn Bridge)
My 26th Birthday

Last Sunday mom, dad and I also went to the Turkey Hill Experience outside of York, PA. I will be writing about it later. Here's a teaser. :)

Monday, July 6
My British penpal sent me a birthday gift. A nice card, some jewelry for my piercings, a book, nail file and two pictures of her cats. It put a smile on my face. :) Thanks, Joanne!

Thursday, July 9
Took a trip to 30th Street Station before work at the Senior Center and had Cinnabon.

Friday, July 10

I showed my library boss the cow hat I bought at the Turkey Hill Experience. He loved it, asked me how much I paid for it, I told him $10 and he handed me $10. He just said, "Happy belated birthday!" I thanked him. It was very nice. :)

Somewhat better shot of me in the hat.

Gone swimming (aunt and uncle have a pool).

Saturday, July 11

Mom and I went to see Inside Out. I'd recommend the movie!

I was so happy when I saw Lawrence of Arabia would be played on the FN (Family Network) channel on Saturday night. I never saw the movie, but always wanted to. I knew I couldn't watch the whole thing as the movie was from 8PM- Midnight (I was tired), but I thought I'd start watching it. Well, after they cut to commercial after either Omar Sharif's Ali or the Turk began to say, "Allah's blessings" (or something like that) and FN cut to commercial right away, I turned the channel because I figured this network would be cutting a lot of the movie. I'll rent Lawrence of Arabia from the library.

With that said, I was so sad to read the news that Omar Sharif died on Friday at the age of 83. I was at work at the library when I received that news. I always liked Omar Sharif and I remember the first movie I saw with him as the star. It was Doctor Zhivago and I watched it in an advanced European history class in 10th grade (2006). I loved it so much that I bought the DVD. Rest in peace, Mr. Sharif.

  1. Hi, dear Jessica Marie! This is a fine recap of your recent activities. I eagerly await more on your visit to my old stomping ground, the York-Lancaster area, and the Turkey Hill Experience. I agree that you are much better off watching that epic motion picture on a DVD or other source w/o commercial interruptions. It's frustrating and annoying when a channel plays 5 minutes of the movie followed by a 5 minute break filled with commercials and promos. You are also correct in stating that those movies are edited to fit the time slot.

Happy Sunday, dear friend Jessica Marie!

    1. That's true, Shady. Commercials distract me from movies, but so does editing a movie... especially because of a certain religion. Since I work for a library, I can rent the movies for free... so I'll just do that. I'll rent it for next weekend. :)

I'm working on the scrapbooking class I teach on Wednesday along with my review of the Turkey Hill Experience. I have a headache of trying to plan this class.I'm a bit nervous about teaching six teens how to scrapbook.

Happy Sunday to you too, Shady!
