Sunny Growing: 3 Years Later

I realized the other day that it's been three years since I've updated about Sunny, my Hawaiian sunshine plant. You might remember Sunny as this:

This was taken in January 2012 and you can read about him here. Although when I received him in the mail from Wisconsin in November 2011, I didn't write about his story. Sunny was sent to me by one of my friends in Greenleaf, WI, which is an hour outside of Green Bay. My friend had her plant for 30 years at that point and I remember her posting the beautiful plant with white flowers. I commented on it and she replied that she had cut pieces off and she would send me one. Two weeks later, I had a barky stem waiting for me in a plastic mailer. Mom quickly put it in a pot and placed it in their room, in front of the window.

It took him 1.5 years to really grow and we transferred Sunny to a bigger pot in May 2013. This past summer, we put him into an even bigger pot and he spent the summer on our backyard porch. He's in for the winter. He's happy as can be. Look how big sunny is now, three years later!

    1. The plant loves my dad. :D He had knee replacement surgery; I have to check Sunny later to see if he needs water. He really thrives in the summer.

    1. For a while, I was nervous about him not making it.
