Vacation in Memphis

Hi y'all!

So, it was decided that we will vacation in Memphis, TN in mid-September. Mom knows I'm not a big fan of amusement parks and dislike hot weather, so she asked what I wanted to do instead. She thought Asheville, NC, but I've been there twice (it is nice, though, and she's been there once) and said no. I was in a bad mood last night and just said, "whatever." As I was in the shower, I thought of Memphis and after a cool down period, I suggested Memphis. Mom liked the idea for our last vacation before I move. I posted a question on the Memphis board of City-Data and someone sent me a link:

Things To Do in Memphis, TN

Mom and I were looking at this and we might go to Graceland, Slave Museum, the soul museums, and botanical gardens. I want to check out Beale St. as was suggested on City-Data:

Trip Advisor's top 10 attractions are a good place to start.

Within the city we have a little bit of Civil War history. If you want to head out to Collierville, they have a whole walking tour there with lots of Civil War info.

Memphis is a cool city. I live in Kentucky so its not that far from me. I am a huge Elvis fan you have to see Graceland and go to Beale St. Memphis is a great BBQ city.. just be careful it can get dangerous in some parts of Memphis at nice. The people are super nice in TN. TN is one my fav states and one of the best states to visit, you some try to visit Nashville and the Smokies as well they are both amazing. Have a blessed day- RL

Thanks everyone.  I saw Beale St. and I've always heard some awesome things about that.

I'm a Civil War buff and would love to check out Civil War Traveler, but I don't think we'll have the time (mom isn't also into the Civil War) since it's only a 2-3 day trip. :( BUT, maybe after I move and save up quite a bit, I can take a trip again just to see the Civil War sites. I think that's what will be done. :)

  1. I've never been to Memphis. I've been to Nashville, and I lived on Signal Mountain, TN. Is that correct? ON? Anyway, enjoy!

    1. On is correct! :) Just because I don't think you can actually live inside a mountain, lol. :)

I'm really excited! Our last somewhat family vacation before I do actually move. I've never been to TN before.

  2. I think that Memphis has quite a musical history. It's one of two places in Tennessee that I'd like to visit; the other is Nashville. :)
