Secret Life of Blogger's Blog Party: A Hopeful End (1/25-1/31)

Saturday, January 25

Today, I went to Dr. Sun because half of my filling came out last Tuesday. He had to numb it with Novocaine and tested the pulp to make sure it wasn't infected. Fortunately, it wasn't and he refilled the tooth. He removed the rest of the filling and I believe he removed the old amalgam fillings and refilled those too. Needless to say that after the Novocaine wore off, I was seeing stars and ended up falling asleep for 3 hours.

Me all drugged up with Novocaine. You can probably tell where I had work done.

The Mimi and me.

The one year anniversary since nan died. This is Pikachu, she gave him to me in 2000. Still sleep with him every night.

Me last selfie with nan... Christmas 2012. Love and miss her.

I love this picture of Mimi. :)

Yay! The Scarlett fan page posted the frame I made for her when I published the poem I wrote about her in Adventures Through the Strawberry Patch. Here is the poem:

Miss Scarlett's Valor

Beauty is more than
the soft calico coat,
her beautiful eyes; to boast
would be an understatement,
hours of grooming spent,
brushing the matte;
carefully cleaning her small cats.
A mother’s love never fails
or falters in trouble’s sails—
the waves of danger; ice and fire,
the heat never tires
in flashes of red, orange and yellow.
“Where are they?” her mews bellow,
the burning effigy
man’s carelessness never flees.
Forgetting her beautiful calico mane
perfectly brushed, the matte tamed,
clear blue eyes as telescopes—
the sweetness of spice and soaps;
molten goo to disfigure, watch out for lye,
watch for the indigo and scarlet dye;
it is almost enough to stop her—
crack, crunch “Get help, dear sir!”
she hears the shrill voice down below,
the timbers crunch, creak and glow.
But, how will she ever get out?
“Children come here.” her mews shout;
if only they’d come—it’s so hot—

“Look! That cat there that trots!”
“What is that she got?”
“Kittens! And a whole lot—“
“Call the hospital! Look at her!”

Beauty is more than how you once were;
perfect calico mane, soft and tame,
beautiful blue eyes, you could blame
the furious flames, disfiguring your face,
charring your fur, where heat was placed
leaves the scars and singes on your ears.
Yet, you never tear
in bitterness and vain
or never cry in memory’s pain.
For beauty resides in the heart
And love for children that never parts.
So remember, beauty is more than
the soft calico coat or perfect skin.

Do cats have 9 lives?
Eat, sleep, play, courage, valor
Loving family.

Lonely waif creature
Purr-purring that melts your heart
You brightened our lives.

Today we met mom's family at Michael's Deli for a belated Christmas party. Aunt Linda, Uncle Joey and their kids went away for Christmas, so we had it today.

Aunt Kathy took this picture of us.

The awesome gift set mom received from Aunt Linda. Cat and mouse china.

The gift bag from Aunt Linda for me.

My one gift. I'll save it for Detroit (I hope they have one!) for when I go in April/May. The other gift was a shirt from Marco Island, Fla. for watching the chickens and cats.

Awesome gift from Aunt Kathy. Belated (she gave me money and chocolate on Christmas).

Christina loves Turtles, so I found something from TMNJT and had to send her a picture. Maybe I'll get it for her before I move if it's still around by April. :)

The card I sent to Treiva, my old boss from WCU.

LinkedIn sent me this e-mail to say DBC read my resume. I had so much hope.

Then they called to set up a phone interview. This is when the conflicting feelings began at my house. Mom was happy, but she was unsure about Michigan. Dad was sad. I started looking more at places to move to.

These pretzels are the best! Head Nut is awesome!

Tuesday, January 28

I made Ramen Pizza. Eh, not my favorite. But, I'd try it again with the right cheese (I only had taco cheese). It also killed nerves a little bit for my interview. Ramen Crust Pizza Recipe

2 packages instant ramen noodles, noodles only
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
12 ounces grated mozzarella or Jack cheese
3/4 cup homemade or store-bought pizza sauce
2 ounces grated parmesan cheese, divided
Toppings, as desired
Procedures
1
Adjust oven rack to center position and preheat oven to 450°F. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add noodles and cook, breaking them apart with tongs, until flexible but not completely softened, about 2 minutes. Drain carefully.

2
Heat olive oil in a 10-inch cast iron skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add noodles and press with the bottom of a spatula into an even later that completely covers the bottom of the skillet. Reduce heat to low.

3
Spread half of mozzarella or Jack cheese evenly over noodles, then spread sauce, going all the way to the edge of the pan. Spread remaining mozzarella or jack on top along with half of parmesan. Top pizza as desired, then place in oven. Bake until top is browned and bubbly, about 20 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining parmesan. Allow to cool slightly, then use a thin metal spatula to loosen edges from skillet. Carefully slide pizza out onto cutting board. Slice, and serve immediately.

I played with my little girl before the interview.

Looking like a Juggalette professional two minutes before I had the phone interview. Usually this shirt brings me good luck and it did because I found out DBC is a scam and I'm glad I didn't get it.

Spongebob always makes me happy!

Wednesday, January 29

I made this grape fruit fizz drink with grape fruit juice, vodka and gin. Blah, it was too bitter and strong. I'm trying a few drink recipes for the cookbook I'm making for when I move.

Working on my Miss Scarlett poem.

Starting my relocation diary. Which can be seen here: Relocation Diary

Darlene's polar plunge donation came in today!

Grumpy Cat and I mourn the loss of Colonel Meow. Love you and miss you dear sir.

I also submitted my resume to Amerisure Insurance in Farmington Hills, MI.

January 30, 2014

Dear Hiring Manager:

I am highly interested in consideration for the Help Desk Service Analysis position since it would enable me to apply my IT and writing skills and also would tap my passion for customer service and writing manuals. The history of Amerisure Insurance that tries to make the workplace safer and the continuing desire to provide that care further stimulated my interest in applying. I am planning to relocate to the Detroit area. I learned of this opportunity through the Riley Guide website.  I understand that Amerisure Insurance was founded with the idea that you create success with the exceptional values through Partners For Success policy holders, agencies and employees.  Your main goal is that policyholders begin with comprehensive lines of insurance products that continue to bring safety and health to every employee of a business.

You require for this position an individual who has proven herself to be proficient in programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Internet Explorer.  Throughout my employment at West Chester University, most of my tasks demanded the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook.  One of my primary responsibilities included the updating of instruction manuals for Microsoft Word, Outlook, Mail Merge, PowerPoint and Publisher (2010 and 2013).  Each assignment required the use of Word.  In fact, I often taught classes to faculty and staff of West Chester University on how to use Word, PowerPoint and Mail Merge.  In addition, I also had to execute the monthly agenda and would have to e-mail instructors and then input their training classes into Outlook Calendar. Weekly, I was required to send reminder e-mails to students about their upcoming classes. I also worked with the HEAT database by putting in the classes, registering students for the classes and closing the classes.  Furthermore, while working at Upper Merion Township Library, I often showed patrons and some staff members how to use Microsoft Word. I also use Microsoft Word when I am publishing books and communicating with different publishers using Outlook. I am proficient in all Microsoft environment programs.

Amerisure Insurance is also seeking someone who has the ability to solicit senior staff for training.  This requirement was vital to my success at West Chester University.  Although I was an English writing major, I was often called by various departments and staff members in the university to help them with various Microsoft Programs.  In fact, I often had to enter these one-on-one trainings into the HEAT database and keep track of everything that was entered into HEAT. I’ve also had to notify my boss if anything appeared to be wrong in the database or if there were any changes happening.

I look forward to the opportunity to discuss the contribution that I can make to Amerisure Insurance.  You can contact me at ***-***-****, or through email, at jessicawrites89@yahoo.com.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jessica Marie Cavaliere

Happy last day of January! What a month it has been! I have decided, after some arguments and being scammed and let down by the Tigers, that I'm going to try temp work here until April. All my coworkers said, "you know, a deviation isn't that bad, sometimes it can be beneficial. Employers like to see when you are busy, a temp job might be the spark you need!" Mom suggested Randstad, a national temp agency. I found a job around here that will last until April. I'm going to apply tonight. If I get it, it's $15/hour and then what I make at the library, it'll help me save for the studio in Detroit and maybe Write A House will be available. Also, I'll be making rapport with Randstad, so they might be able to help me relocate because I'll most likely be using them if I don't hear from anyone. When I start with them, should I mention my relocation in April and will most likely be using them? Mom and dad both like this idea better because it'll give me a chance to save for two months and if need be, I will have the rapport with the trusted temp service so I shouldn't get scammed again in Detroit. Of course I'll have the experience too. I think this deviation will be good; when I'm not working (weekends), I'll work on resume stuff and writing. Also, I will have my wisdom tooth removed sometime next month.

In November a big trash bag was left in front of the bookbox in the library. I took the Linkin Park CD right away (we don't have room in our collection, so we were selling or giving them away). Today when I was shelving magazines, I saw both of these CDs and I wanted them for my iPod. They were a quarter each.

Sadly, when I opened the Manson CD, it was Tenacious D. I dunno if I should be happy, lol. I don't remember much from them. Jack Black was part of them, right?

I love Twiztid, especially Mono. This made my day even better. ^_^ I love when he tweets me.

Me in my costume again. I raised $42, if you care to donate still: http://www.gofundme.com/68see8

  1. 恭喜发财~!

I remember the ramen pizza. I dislike pizza, but it seems creative.

Hmm, I might want to give temping a try, West Chester/Exton based, so I can get on that loan repayment stuff... *SO sluggish with this*

    1. Try Randstad. They're nationwide, so if you ever move, you would be covered! They're in King of Prussia, though. You could Google an agency in WC/Exton I suppose. :)

I feel so much better about this. April is looking brighter! This detour is going to work.

  2. Neat costume. :)

I like that last selfie of you with Nan. It's quite a nice picture and not at all silly.

What flavor(s) are those pretzels? I've never eaten pretzels like them before, although I've wanted to!

    1. Thank you. :) I hope we can still go. We're expecting a big snow storm tomorrow and on Friday. Today is 52 degrees, so the creek has probably melted (mom drove past it and it's frozen solid, much like the creek down the street from me), but who knows about next Saturday. Dad doesn't want to drive in snow, so I don't blame him. Fortunately, we can still mail donations.

Thank you. :) For the most part I take serious selfies, lol.

The pretzels are milk chocolate, white chocolate, strawberry yogurt and graham cracker. I personally love the graham cracker pretzels. The Head Nut is a great store. They ship packages all over the country. I sent a package to Deb one year. I think I'm going to have them send me packages when I move. :D Still a family owned business too.

    2. Best type of selfie. ;)

Ooh, they sound tasty! I don't know if there is an equivalent over here. :/

    3. The other flavors aren't too bad, but graham is always my favorite. I bought this for mom for Christmas, but she's on a diet now. So I guess tonight during the game I'll put it out. I might be the only one eating them, though, lol.
