Cooking My Way Through the Year: A Photographic Timeline of Cooking in 2014

I did a lot of experimenting and cooking this year and I want to share my year in creations with my readers. I thought the easiest way to do that would be by posting pictures and linking to either my blog post or the recipe in general. :) Enjoy and I can't wait to cook more in 2015! I hope you will too!

Snow Ice Cream
The ancestor of all frozen delights and a favorite of small fry.

Arrange attractively in a chilled bowl, trying not to compact it:
Fresh, clean snow

Pour over it:
Sweetened fruit juice or maple syrup

Or, for a gallon of snow, stir in:
1 cup cream
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

For this kind of frozen delight, as well as for packing frozen desserts in general and for serving them attractively on a dish in thin slabs, the shovel scoop is useful. A spring-release scoop turns out uniform ball-shapes and is a great help in molding single portions quickly at dessert time, provided the entire utensil is dipped into very hot water between dollops.

Monster cupcakes. Simply get a box of cake mix, dye it green and get purple icing with the eyes,

I first made this in 2011 and wanted to make it again this year. Dandelion Soup

I designed my birthday cake this year!

Today I also joked with my dad about becoming a chef for chickens. Their lunch/dinner today was scrambled eggs with cheese, lettuce, apples, bananas and bread. This is what I made them yesterday. They loved it and pecked it right up!

My goal for cooking in 2015 will be using some recipes from Foxes Love Lemons because the pictures Lori posts to Instagram look deliciously amazing! Bon Appetit!

2014 in Photographic Review

I know all of y'all are going to be reading this a lot in the last week of 2014 - but I can't believe this is the last week of 2014! It feels like January 1, 2014 was yesterday and now it's December 30, 2014. Thinking back on the past twelve months of my life, now I can see why Hootie and the Blowfish wrote in 1994, "can you teach me about tomorrow all the pain and sorrow running free? But tomorrow's just another day and I don't believe in time is wasting, time is walking, you ain't no friend of mine, I don't know where I'm going, I think I'm out of my mind thinking about time."

To share my 2014 with all of my loyal and new readers of Musings of a Creative Writer, I wrote a 2014 yearly newsletter. I learned a lot about myself this year - I learned how to become a stronger person despite setbacks and the importance of taking small steps to accomplish the bigger picture. Along with many adventures I took this year and the journey to establish myself as a published writer, I had a lot of fun this year as well.

To make my 2014 even more sharable, I put together a timeline of pictures of the adventures I took in 2014 along with other things that happened:

So how about you? How did you spend 2014? What do you hope for 2015?
