Green Bay plans

I found out the other day that the game roster will be available in April. I'll be planning my trip in April and from now to August when I go I will be documenting the journey from planning to going (except I am not bringing my laptop to GBWI again, so I will be journaling and posting bits here after I return). I wrote a travel narrative with last year's trip, this year I want to put out a full travel book about my adventures in Wisconsin.

Dad's ex-coworker's brother-in-law works for the Packers; I wrote him a letter and will be sending it out today:

Dear Mr. Morton,
My name is Jessica Cavaliere and I am a huge Packers fan. I am from King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and my dad (Dave Cavaliere) used to work with your brother-in-law, Larry Lyles. Last year Larry was supposed to call you, but it didn’t work out; I am writing to you in hopes that I can meet you. Meeting you and the Packers would make my year. I will be in Green Bay in August 2012 for a training camp and pre-season game.
Thank you for reading this. I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Jessica

  1. that sounds like a lot of fun. You are obviously a huge Packers fan; I was going to go to Spring Training in Florida for the Phillies this year, but then i realized I live only around the corner from Citizen's Band Park, and I can see them whenever I want haha. I would much rather go to a foreign country, or travel to see their games. Maybe that is what I will do once I graduate, I'll travel to all the different states to see their games! Hopefully, your travel manual will help me if I do decide to do that!

  2. It's funny, the week I plan on going to Wisconsin, the Phillies will be playing the Brewers (not a baseball fan, but I'll cheer for the Brewers). I am thinking about seeing a baseball game just for fun. Tickets are only $30 in Milwaukee. I just have to see how much time and money I have. It's still A LOT of planning and calling Greyhound to make sure they go to Green Bay (it's A LOT cheaper flying into Milwaukee than Green Bay, so the plan in Milwaukee for the day).

My neighbor went to training camp last year for the Phillies. They had a lot of fun. I have never been to a training camp of any sort, so I'm looking forward to hopefully meeting the Packers!

  3. I don't know how relevant it is that Larry didn't call him.

Your letter seems otherwise very business-only, not like a fan letter, which I think is somewhat implied.

It doesn't give him much of a prompt for responding besides that you hope to hear from him! Are you really proposing that he come up with all the details? That is a lot of work that a busy man doesn't have time for!!
You've been to GBWI, I believe, so couldn't you name a suggested setting for a meet? Also, what exactly would you like him to do? Perhaps have lunch together with you?

Then, I think it'd be wise to include a SASE for a RSVP - since you so want to see him, why don't you pick out a dining venue, give him a form like "I could be there on [the date of your choice]", and at least have his response so you can plan that a little better? I know he may have other plans, but he could choose some other time and place when he gets the letter.

I propose you should suggest having lunch together with him at one of the food places near the stadium (because meeting him is implied by that).

I don't want to get embroiled in your business, this is just my thought.
